I think it is a very good chance. In fact just a glow plug might work.
It might add just enough additional heat to the chamber so the heavy fuel
spontaneously
ignites when the fuel is injected at just the right time. Wankel Germany
built
a lot of engines with spark assisted heavy fuel direct injection and they
ran
fine as far as I know. Here are a couple of pictures.
However don't expect any improvement in fuel economy as the compression
ratio remains more or less the same as the gasoline version.
The Direct Injection Heavy Fuel bottle of wine is from the vineyard across
the road from the factory.

Hi, Paul.....Looking at the last picture, I could not help but admire what
appears to be a cast aluminum oil pan. Might those ribs be an attempt at
cooling similar to fins on a motorcycle engine, similar to what you were
recently discussing? (Although I assume you were talking about deeper
fins). There's always something interesting popping up on this site.

Co-located in the Wankel factory was a die casting shop that did a lot of
subcontract work for Mercedes. The whole Wankel Germany rotary engine was
made of beautiful light weight high pressure die castings. Nikasil did
the whole works in IMHO. That and the lack of pressure lube and oil cooling.
Too bad it was not just a scaled down Mazda 13B.
