Along those lines, have you considered finding a tubing size that is a slip fit on the exterior, cutting off a 1/8" section, slipping it over the tube to be "beaded" and having it tack welded inplace?

There was no charge for the use of the beading tools, just had to do it at his shop. I was beading 3/4" tubing.

If you make them wide enough (1/8") you can use three small counter sunk flat head rivets
to hold them on.
