Along those lines, have you considered finding a tubing size that
is a slip fit on the exterior, cutting off a 1/8" section, slipping it
over the tube to be "beaded" and having it tack welded inplace?

If you make them wide enough (1/8") you can use three small counter
sunk flat head rivets
to hold them on.

Could work.  I have some 1 3/8" o.d. nominal 1/16 wall that the i.d. is
about .010 larger than the 1 1/4 o.d. tube.  3 or 4 tacks (or small
rivets) and some JB weld may do the job on that size.

Meanwhile, I found that the local Earl's would sell me the "EZ-beader"
for $69 each.
