at Arlington I was listening to the henrob salesman and have to
admit that it appears to be just what I need to complete my
plane. I seem to remember that someone on this list had one and
replaced it with a tig welder however. do the henrobs work
well? I have 3/16ths max AL plate to weld in my intake plus all
the cooling system stuff yet. there appears to be a look alike
for sale on e-bay. any comments? anyone want to sell their henrob?

I think bubble gum would work as well.

why?
I should add that I have very shaky hands. when I attempt to tig weld
I have problems maintaining an arc and controlling the filler rod with much
precision. I thought that a torch might not be quite so critical of my
condition.

I saw a coot that had parts welded with one of them and during
preflight checks the aileron fell of in his hand do to a weld
breakage.
The weld had no penetration and was just stuck on the surface.
No substitute for a tig.

Was the person wielding the torch a qualified, experienced welder? Did
he use the proper filler, etc? I have no ax to grind about anybody's
torch, but to analyze a problem properly, you've got to know all the
relevant factors.
