I should add that I have very shaky hands.  when I attempt to  tig

weld

I have problems maintaining an arc and controlling the filler rod with

much

precision. I thought that a torch might not be quite so critical of my
condition.

If you are most comfortable hanging from a chandelier, the by all means
do it!   If the hoses seem to drag, place them over your shoulder.
Point is, comfort with no strain is an important factor.
Perhaps in your case, resting both your hands on 2x4's, or bracing
against a wall, fuselage tubing, anything!
Don't give up until all means are expended, and then try something
else.
