Here is another way George.
You can do away with all the ribs.
Your foundry will love it.
Your machinist will love it.
Your welder will love it.
And Tracy will love it.
The 1/2 inch square .035 4130 steel struts are bolted to
the bell housing with two 10-32 screws each.

Paul, all of the above may love it???, but I doubt very much the "End Users",
(The ones that really count), does or would love it, me included. Not to
mention that it looks like an "After Thought" (Abortion) at first sight. It's
just something that can be applied by "Belt & Suspender" syndroned
individuals, or on aircraft operated beyond their intended envelopes....But
there's no need to get into a pissing match over it since it makes no sense
to take this approach anyway, as in the long run it will prove to be heavier,
and costlier as compared to some strategically placed enforcing ribs, which
only invokes one time additional pattern work.
This IMHO, is a "Step Backwards" from where we were!!

I think you are right but I was just addressing George's issue with the extra
work of installing the ribs in the bell housing. In other words giving
him a worse alternative :)

Keep reading. The next iteration solves a whole bunch of problems.
