We have 50 miles on the RX8 and the electric steering is phenomenal.

The acceleration and cornering are not bad either.

The ability of the engine to pull from low RPM is also
phenomenal for such a low displacement engine. Must be the
total lack of valve overlap.

    Would you mind explaining the electric steering?  Steer by wire. :)

I am not sure exactly how it works. There is a concentric electric motor
in the rack and pinion unit that drives a ball screw that assist
the steering forces. Variables are; vehicle speed, steering input torque
and engine RPM. The electric motor also provides damping by being back

driven.

There is a microprocessor but I am not sure if it is in the rack unit

itself or

in the main computer. What ever it is... it is just plain wonderful.

Just kidding on the RX8 part. 

It will be nearly impossible to find RX8 in the rental
fleet just yet.
