I understand from my reading that for the intake, the rotorary needs velocity
more than volume - the other side is that a larger pipe dia. will reduce the
internal friction.  Some trade-offs.

Also, does the run of 17-23" begin at the block and run to the carb body or
to the venturi?

What pipe bends? I don't have no stinking pipe bends :) I did have some 2"
.065 wall and 1-3/4" .065 wall tubing bends but they are all sold.

     Joe, I was taught this (much needed) lesson here just a few days
ago...pipe is for plumbing. We use "Tubing".  :)

You can use pipe but I just don't have any for sale or never had any for sale.
I did have some tubing for sale. I don't want to leave the impression that
pipe won't work for intake plumbing. 1 1/2 inch pipe is near the same size 
as two inch tubing. 1 1/4 pipe is close to 1 3/4 tubing.

The intake runners are closer to 1 1/2 inch pipe than they are to
2 inch tubing but both will work.
