Jepson you are right with what you say about the rich rough running
at the low end and I would not consider running one on a car but none
of that matters on an airplane, it runs fine on the mid and upper end
where you fly, I have 1100 hrs flying on a Weber and it work fine and
it is just to simple to hookup a fuel line and throttle cable and go
 fly.

In defense of the mighty Webber, they were original equipment on the finest
most expensive automobiles built in Italy. They are fully adjustable from idle
to full flow.
They perform perfectly even when the choke size is within 4 MM of the
butterfly size.
Mr. Drummond says he can get within 6 HP of fuel injection in the 250HP
range.
When the sanctioning organization is controlling performance with choke size,
then there are modifications required to improve fuel flow at very high flow
rates (9,500 RPM). So we have one Webber where there should be two Webbers.

Don't tell an Italian mechanic "you wouldn't use one on a car." And certainly
not if he has a wrench in his hand.

Set up your jetting with the fuel pressure at 6.5 pounds and a Gross jet
needle seat. Then adjust fuel pressure down to 1.5 pounds for a good range of
leaning mixture.
