I was hoping you had a NEMA 0183 GPS RS232 input so you could use
ground speed in the MPG calculations. What happened? :)
Run out of RS232 ports?

Yep, not even an extra pin to do a software port.  Maybe I'll make a version
that deletes some other feature so the GPS input could be accomodated.  The
lack of this really doesn't bother me since ground MPG is the only thing
this feature would give.  I'm more interested in the air MPG which is
directly related to aerodynamic and engine efficiency.   The ground speed
would only confuse the study of this.

Ed felt some unexpected friction in his drive the morning he was planning on
SERFI flight.  Ed, being the wisely conservative fellow he is,  is sending
it here for me to check out.

That is true but when searching for favorable winds aloft you want ground 
MPH and MPG. Ground MPG is also handy when you are running low on fuel
and you need to know if you are going to make it to an airport.
That to me is far more important. Nothing like a 30 kt head wind
to ruin you whole day :)
