Hi Fred:

I have an extra single rotor eccentric shaft from an
OMC wankel snowmobile engine (Johnson or Evinrude
series).  These were the same ecc. shaft whether
they
were rated at 35 or 45 h.p.

Just like Tracy Crook says in his Mazda conversion
manual about the Mazda rotaries, it is extremely
rare
that the OMC's eccentric shafts show any wear, even
on
abused engines.

What are your rotor inside dimension requirements
where the ecc. shaft lobe fits inside the needle
bearings?

Are you planning on using a Mazda rotor, housing,
and
end plates for your test engine?

I'm not at home right now, so I can't measure the
lobe
circumference.  The shaft is about 18" in length.
It
is hollow inside.  Are the Mazdas ecc. shafts also
hollow?

I'm looking to shorten one of these, add a taper,
and
mate it to a Rotax gearbox for my ultralight
gyrocopter.  I need someone's machining/lathe
expertise to help me to do a taper, and later, mate
two of these little puppies together to make either
a
70 h.p.(35 X 2) or 90 h.p. (45X 2).

Maybe we could do a trade of labor and materials?

I'm asking here instead of someone local because of
the "A" word that scares some businesses off when
they
hear the intended AIRCRAFT use.
