Jerry is the originator of the 2.85:1 Ross helical gear
thrust bearing fix. This was a brilliant solution as the needle
bearing was subject to a much lower RPM than if it was abutted
on the PSRU housing. Needle bearings don't like high speed.
Jerry says it is essential that you provide oiling for
the thrust bearing.
Jerry is still sorting out the cooling. His oil cooler is longitudinally
located under the pan with a huge intake opening. IMHO the oil cooler is
too close to the oil pan. This causes the air passing through the
cooler to build dynamic pressure on the surface of the oil pan
restricting the air attempting to get through the cooler.
The back of any radiator or oil cooler must be unobstructed for
at least 50% of the height of the cooler for good air flow.
Jerry plans to relocate the cooler sideways vertically mounted
under the Ross PSRU.
