Dear Rotary People
I have welded titanium when I worked for Pan American world
airways in N.Y. it takes alot of preperation to do it right. After
welding
it if the weld has a blue color like chromed exhaust pipes get after
running
it is no good. While at Pan Am we perfected ways of doing it out side of
a gas
filled argon bubble. A lot of your 747 eng hot section have titanium
parts that
we repaired so i think a muffler for the rotary eng is possible. Other
ideas to consider: some of your other alloys in the stainless steel
family
inconel, hasaloy x and w, monel, etc I think every possiblity should be
looked
at and considered before using titanium also it is VERY,VERY expensive.
But
if some one wants one after everthing is said and done i would be
interested
in building it.

Hi, Ed...I sent an e-mail to you yesterday, but not sure if you received
it. Question....could you build the VAM muffler out of Stainless? Thanks.
