Not being familiar with the clearance on the tuned intake, if the adapter
angle were increased from 90 deg to say, 110-120 would that do it?

One problem is it does not provide clearance for most tuned intake

manifolds.

Not really Archie. This is the lump that causes the problem. On the RX8
this has been cut down at an angle.
