     I call it the beam
     mount. The beam and the upper diagonal brace must lie in the same
     plain. It must also be laterally braced under the oil pan.

Paul, Interesting mount. Do you realize you have reinvented the P-51
engine mount? I think this is a good idea though. On the P-51 they
wanted to keep the cowl as close to the engine as possible. Exhaust
was dumped straight through both sides. The P-51 mount was a
box section. The Thunder Mustang did it in tubing. Looks so similar it's
spooky. Same solution, different problems. Bill Jepson

I had first thought it best to do a simple triangular mount with a wide
spaced beam near the engine/PSRU/prop CG but I had a tough time talking people 
into moving the motor mounts out to the cowl walls. This will accommodate 
any motor mount width and still give clearance for mufflers or a turbo.
