Paul, Interesting mount. Do you realize you have reinvented the P-51
engine mount? I think this is a good idea though. On the P-51 they
wanted to keep the cowl as close to the engine as possible. Exhaust
was dumped straight through both sides. The P-51 mount

was a

box section.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw it. This mount would be great
 if you were to have the exhaust exit the side of the cowl. A little harder 
to have the exhaust go down and exit under the bottom of the cowl. I would 
have built my mount like this if I had it to do over again.

If the motor mount bushings are in close to the engine at the front there is
room out side of the beam for exhaust tubes. If the motor mount bushings
are moved outboard with a Schertz beam or wide motor plate there is room
inside the beam for exhaust tubes.
