Hello Paul,
As you guy's have different regulations in the US aircraft noise is
more of a problem than here in AUS. There has been a lot of comment
on exhaust system that are suited for the requirement in the US.
I have not heard the note of a Renesis engine and as you own one I
am asking for your recommendations. You have also done some flying
here and will be able to give good comment. Is it different from the
13B, how far
would you go with the muffler system on a Renesis. Was it tongue and
cheek your comment of putting it out the side as per the original
Mustang. It would sound different but i think the locals may get
pissed off.

You guys are generally far from heavy populations. When Robin and I went
flying with Ian Beadle and on our own in the outback it was like we were on
another planet.
No signs of human habitation for miles and miles. We also flew with Dave
McCandless
out to RottNest island and had a chance to compare the Perth area to the
LA
area. Thanks again Dave. The population density around your airport is much
less.
The RX8 engine has a much different sound than a 13B. It is far more
mellow. I would say go for the stright exhaust. You could also use
some small fish mouths like those used on the orginal P51 Mustang.
Here are the proper scale dimensions. You will need to beef up the
opening as it is sure to crack otherwise.

The silencer pulse curve looks very interesting. Instead of hoping for
general homogenization in a VAM or similar muffler, is it possible to tune
the (primary) exhaust port lengths for a certain rpm so the two pulses from
a 13B cancel each other out inside the exhaust chamber?
Scott Gettings
Possibly I suppose.
