 Ken,

 Check out Jess Meyers website http://beltedair.gfwireless.com/default.htm
 He's not a Rotary powered kinda guy, but he has spent years
developing acft belt drives.

 Jess Meyers built his first Belt Reduction Drive more than twenty years ago.
 Since that time, they have been flying proof of the reliability of
belt driven aircraft.

He does not make a ratio suitable for our use. We need something in the range
of 2.85:1 up to 3:1. I am very familiar with the history of this airplane
and I would not exactly  call it trouble free flying :) I also know the test
pilot :)

   Its sure been reliable for me as I lost 3 engines in 400 hrs do to
a Ross redrive and have had no problems in 700 hrs on cog belts.

Ross had a lot of quality control problems towards the end of their life
as a business. There are early ones around still working fine.

Also, I might add, Ken has been in the habit of running NOS though the engine
providing an additional 80-100 HP for water take offs with his 2900 pound gross
Coot.
