BTW just to confuse the issue here is a picture I took at Geneva of a Renault Formula 1
engine with the injectors mounted outside the bell :)

Paul, It is true that they mount the injectors there, but there is a reason! The intake tract of the current crop of 4 and 5 valve F1 engines is so short that
there is no where else to mount the injector. The intake is so short that with the throttles wide open you can touch the intake valve with your finger! You
need remember that to improve power these engines are running TYPICAL RPMS around 18-18.5K at maximum.
