Jerry the plane that flipped is my hangar neighbor. It was a Glasair

with 8

cylinder Lycoming twin turbo IO-740. His usual climb rate was 6500

fpm.

He had no insurance and it is about 500K loss. They delivered the

remains

this morning on a trailer. The owner was together with his wife when

it

happened, but they are OK.

If it was JAWBREAKER it was NOT a twin turbo, according to Sport
Aviation/April04.
There it states thatTerry Morris tried it first with a direct crive 670
cubic inch V8 with a twin turbo intercooled - 650 hp at 2700 rpm !!!!!!! -
However the problem was the necessary bearing for the prop extension.
Everything fine on the dyno, but in the aircraft with a 5-blade paddle prop
it would only last 1 hour. After a couple of years trying he moved on to the
720, however it is NOT turbo charged, still with a few parts it makes
(made.... :(( ) about 450 hp at 2700 rpm.
