I don't think that is a good idea. What we need back there is a way to
adjust the down thrust angle. Figure out a good way to use these left
and right hand thread rubber rod ends. These are perfect for the rear
motor mount. The 1/2 inch size is about right. Maybe welding some
clips on the stock steel pan.

Why not capture a purpose-built fitting using the oil pan bolts like the
Schertz beam does on the opposite end? It should be a simple job to
bend up some mild steel in a kind of "L" bracket. Make a similar
bracket for the firewall. Heck, you might even be able to buy one or
both of those brackets.

Then add:
1 neoprene-isolated, female right-hand threaded shank rod end
1 neoprene-isolated, female left-hand threaded shank rod end
1 right-hand thread 1/2"-20 jam nut (maybe use nylon insert nut?)
1 left-hand thread 1/2"-20 jam nut (maybe use nylon insert nut?)
1 length of 1/2" mild steel unthreaded rod

McMaster-Carr web page to rod ends:

McMaster-Carr also has the right-hand and left-hand 1/2"-20 jam nuts and
the blank rod. I'll let you look for them.

Cut the steel rod to approximately the correct length. Using right-hand
and left-hand 1/2"-20 dies, cut threads on the rod (about 2 inches'
worth). Assemble rod ends, jam nuts, rod, and brackets. Loosen jam
nuts and turn rod with Visegrips to adjust (don't forget to re-tighten
jam nuts).
