Jerry,
As your aware I'm trying to get to the bottom of this PP business and
it's early days for me.
I've looked again at your PP and it would seem to me that your PP IO
and IC are very similar to the Mazda factory PP - perhaps opening and
closing a little
later, but not much later - is that the case?

All of these work well.

George, our I.O. is 78º BTDC. The I.C. is 75º ABDC, In the drawing
below comparing our port to the Leman Port the timing events are
described as a measurement up from horizontal center line of the
housing. I prefer to think of it this way because it tells me directly
where to bore the hole. Looking at the drawing, you can easily see
that the I.C. of both ports is about the same. You can see that the
Leman Port will open much earlier and that it is quite a bit larger.
Our throttle body has thick walls (.375") so that considerable
"tuning" can be done with the die grinder. One could make the port
wider without changing the timing at all. We intend to change the
shape of the port to improve its efficiency as shown in the second
drawing. The hatched area will be chamfered back. Rolf Pfieffer
has calculated that our port will provide sufficient charge to run the
engine up to 8000 rpm. I am hoping for around 220 hp in the final
copy. Hope this helps, Jerry
