Jerry,
You may have discovered this already but the only center to center
distance you can use for the Kis MM rubber bushings is 25 inches
because
of the tilt in the Kis firewall hard points top to bottom.
This assumes you are using the P51 type beam mount as shown in this
drawing. This keeps the P51 beam all in the same plane. Required
for structural reasons. I just discovered this myself. Interesting.
If the fire wall hard points were vertically aligned top to bottom any
Schertz
beam width could be used with a P51 type beam mount.
I could be wrong about this but it is a little tricky to lay out.
In any event this will work as shown.
The lower beam in the right hand sketch has been rotated into the
vertical
position to calculate the true length of all the tubes.
It should fit in the cowl but I will know more about that tomorrow.

Paul, yes I was coming up with 24 to 25 inches for a universal
Schertz Beam that would fit most cowls. If we can clear the turbo
and/or have room for the exhaust system, then I will be a happy man.
The 24 inch Schertz beam will leave more than 5 inches of clear space
to snake the exhaust through. Once we get this engine mount design
finalized, I am going to make one and donate it to Ed. He will
develop an exhaust that fits.
However, Bill's S- beam is 27 inches between centers and still fits
his cowl. Perhaps there is an error in the cowl data.
I still have not considered those cowls with cheeks that go around
the cylinders. It is great to have it modeled before hand. I am
following your efforts with every posting. THANKS, Jerry
Yes I think there is. I'll take a look at my cowl up in the hangar
and double check in a day or so.

With all due respects, I've double checked the cowl data. There is no error.

Your right Charlie! It is right on. What I forgot was the cowl was not split
horizontally on the thrust line but 1.5 inches above the thrust line. Once I corrected
that everything came out OK. More in a few minutes.
Paul,
While it is true I had completed a couple crosschecks and was satisfied the data reproduced OK, I was still a bit bothered that there could be an error somewhere. After sleeping on it overnight, I think, depending on how you modeled it, there could be an error. The two halves join not with a butt joint but with a lap joint at the joggle. Now, if you modeled a standard one inch lap on the top and bottom, its correct. I'm guessing, however, you modeled a butt joint. This would mean the depth of the top of the cowl is over stated by one inch as the joggle is included in both upper and lower measurements.
As silly as it seems, we may both have been correct.

I used the vertically off set horizontal split line as a reference.
