Why do you need the NXT  - if you can truly put 900 hp in
a Lancair 4P you would wax him big time - no way does
he have less than half the flat plate drag of the lancair. The

game

is almost pure horsepower over flat plate drag, and the bigger
heavier 4P  would have an easier time in traffic,

I've

harbored for a lots of years on ACRE....so here goes!!!!

I'm sick and  tired of periodically hearing the same old chant, over

and

over again, on how the SUPERIOR 1200 hp 20B can easily beat the pants of
anything

flying today at Reno, Blah, Blah, Blah and ETC, ETC,

ETC........Followed

by.......loads of IFs up my ying-yat......And finally ending with the

same

old

statement......."Too bad they won't allow Rotaries to participate at

the

Reno Air Races".......Then everybody picks up their tarnished MARBLES

and

goes home

muttering......."Even IF they did allow it, THEY would eventually

handicap or outlaw Rotaries after we beat the shxx out of those N-F-G

piston

grenades"....

The latest and most legitimate one brought up by Vance

is......."Those

big Heavy HP iron's wake, will blow any Light weight A/C we could come

up

with, clear

out of the sky regardless of HP employed.



Now here's my take on the whole blooming mess:!!!!!!!



As a rule, shxx happens but it's always caused by THEY, the selfish,

egoistical, self centered, narrow minded  and insecure Shxxheads out

there

that fight to

keep their turf/domain(s) from being changed, (Sort of like the

Rooster

in the Hen house).......Experience has taught me this well, and it can

be

turned

around IF, you're a "Doer" ;-)



If you guys are genuinly serious about doing something instead of

continuing doing NOTHING, WE could pool in our resources both

technically

and monetarily and

get them to take notice by beating the pants off the Reno WINNERS

per,

or in whatever Class we choose!!!!........HOW????,.......By very simply
designing and

building an A/C powered by a Rotary for the sole purpose of beating

that

years Reno's  FASTEST bird's time!!!!......WHERE????........AT an annual
gathering on

an AIRPORT of our choosing. SANCTIONED by WHOM????.......Nobody but

US

at first, BUT I'll personally guarantee that the WORD will get around,

and

the Reno

clicks will take notice (Their Competitive Ego will make them), but

more

importantly, the regular Joes, fliers, builders etc out there will also

be

taking the

Rotary much more seriously.



Can this really be pulled off????

Yep!!!!!.......Right of the Bat and aside from personal donations by

us,

I can easily see the people that are doing business with the Rotary

making

Component,

Technical as well as Monetary donations for the cause and

advertizing

spot on the actual A/C......Ransacking the Private Business
sector......Placing a modest

fee for the NO-charge ACRE Newsletter service (That's right Paul,

nothing legal or wrong with this, so  SHUT-UP or I'll have my BIGGER

than

your Buddy Bulent,

feed you to the Aligators in his back yard).



I think I've made my point at a chance of a lifetime opportunity and

taken away all the EXCUSES.......So in conclussion I say "Either we SHxx

or

get off the

POT" and stop WHINING!!!!!!!

The parallel non Reno race is a good call. I would certainly be willing
to provide engineering input tho the Reno judges that the three rotor
does not exceed the allowable displacement - even using the most
unfavorable analysis. and tnat it is not some ,magic turbine machine
that makes Hp out of thin air. The problem with Reno is that it
is a good old boys club of the first order, and you run if they
like you . Rubbing a speed record sanctioned somewhere else
is not quite as good - but they would have trouble ignoring
it. By the way - isn't someone already putting a 3 rotor
in a Lancair? - Vance

Tom Parkes but apparently he does not have $200,000 to spend on a Reno
like race. Also it is a Lancair ES non retractable let alone a IV or a

Legacy.

Maybe we could take up a collection and buy Tom a good prop provided
he agreed to race it in the Sun 100 :) I am sure he would not go 400 MPH
but 250 would be impressive for a fixed gear airplane.


BTW My rich potential patron is already in the aircraft biz.

If we organized a parallel race part of the sponsor money could be spent
on full size ads in several aviation publications challenging anybody to
race against us with a piston engine. That should optimize the sponsor's
publicity for the money spent. We better be darn sure we are ready to
run and win with extensive testing in secret.

I also think if we went 400 MPH in the Sun 100 they would be impressed.
