The parallel non Reno race is a good call. I would certainly be
willing
to provide engineering input tho the Reno judges that the three
rotor
does not exceed the allowable displacement - even using the most
unfavorable analysis. and tnat it is not some ,magic turbine

machine

that makes Hp out of thin air. The problem with Reno is that it
is a good old boys club of the first order, and you run if they
like you . Rubbing a speed record sanctioned somewhere else
is not quite as good - but they would have trouble ignoring
it. By the way - isn't someone already putting a 3 rotor
in a Lancair? - Vance

Tom Parkes but apparently he does not have $200,000 to spend on a
Reno
like race. Also it is a Lancair ES non retractable let alone a IV
or
a
Legacy.

Maybe we could take up a collection and buy Tom a good prop
provided
he agreed to race it in the Sun 100 :) I am sure he would not go
400
MPH
but 250 would be impressive for a fixed gear airplane.


BTW My rich potential patron is already in the aircraft biz.

If we organized a parallel race part of the sponsor money could be
spent
on full size ads in several aviation publications challenging

anybody

to
race against us with a piston engine. That should optimize the
sponsor's
publicity for the money spent. We better be darn sure we are ready

to

run and win with extensive testing in secret.

I also think if we went 400 MPH in the Sun 100 they would be
impressed.

In Sport Class it actually says "reciprocating" Engine....
But for Unlimited "only" Piston Engine", now we would have to contact
some
2technically" inclined Linguist to determine whether a "Rotor" can be
called
a "Rotary Piston"!

Otherwise you will have to organize the Race in
Germany/Austria/Switzerland,
there a Rotor is a "Kreiskolben" and a regular Piston is called
"Kolben" so
it is right there!

of the Mazda Wankel engine.

Reno is about how fast you can go with a piston engine.  If they cared
about other types of engines they would allow them.  It's the same
reason there's a 3 legged race at the state fair;  It's fun to see how
fast people can go when they're tangled up and out of balance.  Injury
is imminent!  :)

I think we're better off building our own planes and proving the rotary
concept over time.  The racing will come, be patient.  Tracy's already
winning.
