I've been working on the 3D of my new engine mount for the Long-EZ.
The
Schertz beam is 1/2 x 4.75 x 15.5 aluminum, that picks up every hole
on
the rear iron housing. It also pushes the rubber mounts rearward and
inward. I want to incorporate the 1/2 inch beam and the 1/2" front
piece
into the oil pan, such that the whole assembly bolts to the engine
just
like any other oil pan. I remember that 1/2" aluminum is very
difficult
to weld, so the front and rear 1/2" pieces may have to be bolted to
the
pan from inside, sealed with sealant.  The extra pieces shown at the
front are the tabs on the 13B front cover and L-brackets between the
tabs and the front 1/2" piece for more support. Also, I removed the
oil
pan fins, they will only be included if an extrusion becomes
available.

Perry,  I remember telling you that I could not weld .5 aluminum but
others can do it very well.  I  am limited because I am using an
aircooled torch rated at 125 amps.   Jerry
