I have started thinking about putting the injectors INSIDE the bell
mouths. There is a compelling reason to do this
in that I want the runners to be a little less than 27 inches from
butterfly to bellmouth but it is very difficult to keep
them that short. We were going to turn the runners downward on the
cool side and install the injectors in the
turned down portion directly in line with the main runner but this
produces a runner that is too long. Paul's runners will not work
with
the p port.
Paul has some good suggestions that I need to think about and Ed is
working on this too. Hopefully we will come up with something good.

27 inches is too long Jerry. 22 inches for 6000 RPM and
something less for 2.85:1
gear box and 7500 RPM. If you put them in the bell mouths they
will restrict
the airflow and spew fuel back because of the organ pipe tuning.

Paul is correct about the fuel "fogging" if you use the injectors in
the bellmouth.
The F1 cars now sometimes use this system due to the ULTRA SHORT
intake
tract they are running. (About 3-4 inches) This is because the newer
5 valve
configurations run as much as 18K rpm in the NA formula. You could do
this
if you run an airbox around the bellmouths. (hint make it as big as
you can)
A welded on bung would probably be better.

Bill, we have always planned on having an airbox around the
bellmouths. Are you saying that with the air box, the straight in
injectors will work? Jerry
First it must be well sealed and then have an excess fuel drain overboard
or return to the tank. The Formula one guys use the injectors shooting
straight down and they are not particularly concerned if some fuel fog
is lost overboard.
