Subject: No return fuel system.

This is a schematic of a low wing system that is safe.

Green is the feed line. Red is the return fuel.
Each pump has a one way valve built in.
One pump is used as the main pump and the other as the backup.
The fuel pressure regulator is on the end of the fuel rail.

Fuel systems seem simple but many people have crashed by not getting it
right.

ANY deviation from this system and you take your life in your hands.

Hi Paul:

Your diagram is a good start on a critical subject. Suggest we continue to
add details to show:
1.) Fuel pressure regulator location
2. Suggested line sizes,
3.) Suggested list of materials and sources / $$
4.) Proper tank venting (must consider vent line routing - what if the
plane is unfortunately upside down?)
5.) Fire sleeving, routing to avoid, vibration support
6.) Microswitch on fuel selector to show selector position - (for red &
green panel LEDs )
7.) Fuel Pressure sensor & location- gage/instrument
8.) Fuel Level / Quantity - instrument
9. Fuel line/tank grounding - especially for refueling composite tanks
10.) Fuel filters
11.) Tank sump drains
12.) Wiring diagram of all components
13.) Other ?

I think Keith's suggestion is a great idea. How useful it would be to have a fully-populated diagram of currently proposed best-practices! As knowledge evolves, it would be quite straight
forward to dust off the diagram & apply any updates.

Could be a good direction to point new ACRE members in so they can more quickly come up to speed on design suggestions.
