Yes on the first question.
Yes on the second question too. Make the side beams look like this.

Your customer will have to beef up those silly aluminum angles used to
attach
the motor mounts to a Long EZ. We had a set crack a couple of weeks ago
at the Camarillo air show. Klause had his crack too. Replace them
with bent up 4130 steel angles.

space.  Paul's drawings depict a lot of hardware that cannot fit in a
STANDARD Long EZ cowl.  The motor mount is too wide at the PSRU to fit in
the cowl.  Also the hardware in the vertical axis radiator, scoop, block,
intake with intercooler will be a challenge to fit.  In the end you may end

Who said anything about a stock cowl. You will need a bump for the turbo.
I don't think it is that bad. Perry's cowl was by no means stock but he had
a completely stock intake manifold in his. Really what you are worried
about is prop efficiency or blockage. You could move the whole works
forward by bolting on a prop extension to Tracy gear box.

Here are some shots of Perry's cowl and installation from the back
using the stock intake manifold.

I have some other shots of Tom Jordan supercharged 13B Limo EZ cowl as well.

I'll also do a cowl 3D for what I have drawn.

To my knowledge nobody has done it yet. Tracy's shaft is rather robust.
I think six inches would be OK. Don't do violent aerobatics as that 
additional load on the bearings with a prop extension.
