In the context of cooling system design what is wrong
with these pictures?

Is that little NACA inlet supposed to supply air to the oil cooler?
How does cooling air leave the cowl? I don't see the opening(s). The
intercooler and the oil cooler are directly above the exhaust and
absorbing heat from it. The skunkworks ought to tune in to ACRE for
some basic education. Jerry

The question is, does this cooling system work? Apparently it does as
they are flying and sustaining high performance. The second
question, why & how does it work? Seems impossible given my
preconceptions. Jerry
The jury is still out on the intercooler effectiveness.
Rumor has it the oil cooler, fed by a NACA scoop under the cowl, failed
to keep the engine oil cool enough, cooked an engine and so it was replaced
by this sheet metal kludge.
This is what was left of it after the gear collapsed.
