They come and they go with regularity.

And its on sale for only 40 grand, bargain days !!!
Ken
Didn't bother to look it up, but did anyone else find out what is
their
TBO,
.....and actual runtime so far?
I bet around 400 hrs latest it will start to "make trouble"!
Thomas J. :)
PS: 400 hrs is about the max I heared about any car derived V8
survive
in an
aircraft.........
My guess is 300 hours. It SO MUCH trouble that 99% of the V8 people
give
up :)

You are right, but what surprises me to no end, that there is always
someone
new to sink a s###load of money into a project, builds a beautiful motor
and
thinks they have found the sweetspot, never even waisting a single
second to
really study why all the others failed.
Besides if it would be that easy would have plenty of certified Chevys,
Fords, Mopars, etc. flying. Those guys probably found out early, that it
is
not easy to build a V8 that will hold up in Aviation........
Anyway, always nice to see a "new" one :))
Thomas J.
The all time highest cost for converting a Chevy V8 was spent by Orenda at
about 50 Million U.S. and Canadian. Most of it at the expense of the poor
Canadian tax payer. I have seen one or two others at well over a million
US.
What really pisses me off is one such project is by NASA at US taxpayer
expense
as we speak.
Hope springs eternal.

Slowly I believe these companies do that on purpose:
Make a prototyp, do some dyno testing, make everything look really good,
hire some more people, tell the government all is well, but we are short of
money and lots of jobs are at stake - Government says "Good boy" can't let
him hang there and the jobs can't be lost either.
Money flows..
As the CEO and his immediate gang they propably have to give themselves a
"decent" salary - hey we are builiding (excuse me, are GOING to build) the
worlds best aviation engine.
Everytime a govenment check dries up, we wine a little more (or pay some
"consulting fee" to someone in the government foodchain) and we get another
check. With a little luck we keep this going on for a couple of years!!
Heck, it seems so easy, we don't even want to get finished with the engine
(it would never work anyway...) as long as the checks keep comin'!!! :(
...Moeller, Zoche (don't want to badmouth him, but it seems things are
running this direction, just with German taxpayers for a change...)
I hope Mistral succeeds and cleans up the
future-non-jet-aircraft-engine-question once and for all.
No more chances for car V8s!! :))
Enough rambled, back to lurking......
Thomas J.
PS: I do believe that Zoche IS producing his diesel engines for compressors,
construction equipment, fire pumps, etc.
He does have trouble though with his aircraft version, as it is extremly
light at therefor doesn't hold up too well, no where near his proposed 2000
hr TBO. A diesel is a diesel, and it has to be strong to last, in this casew
strong is heavy too.
Even Thielert is roumored to have trouble to make his claimed TBR.......
I would love to see that happen. Perhaps Chris Dries the owner of Diamond aircraft
would then have more respect for the Midwest rotary engine that he owns
the rights for.
BTW the Newsletter will be shut down tonight for about a week.
Don't send messages as they will fill my earthlink mail box and they maybe
lost forever.
