I was kind of curious what a straight manifold would look like. Not likely
to fit in the average Long EZ. Might fit in the wing of a twin with partially
buried engines. The firewall is only 24 inches in diameter. No cooling rads or
muffler.

Paul,
what would that look like on a KIS cowling, using a NACA Duct on the cowling side to feed the plenum?

It will run with a NACA duct but you won't get the ram effect. As soon as the
pressure in the duct rises a few inches of water above atmospheric the air 
bypasses the duct. Probably the reason the NACA engineers did not recommend its
use for carb air intakes. Since it is about 20 inches long and the Kis cowl
is about 40 inches wide and the engine 12 inches wide that leaves only
about 14 inches in the cowl and the rest of the 20 inches of manifold tubes, plenum
and fuel rail sticking out side the cowl. Might be cool looking however :)

You are not really considering rebuilding your whole manifold are you Bill?
You must be really close to done on your engine installation.
You seem to be a lot further along than I am.
