Subject: P Port turbo's

Matt,
Some rebuilders don't recommend turbo PP's for street cars, I think the idle
is impossible to manage.
It's fine for racing but the fuel burn is a monster!
I just can't remember all the reasons, as I dismissed it as being out of the
question for my own needs - but someone may have a better idea on the
subject.

Well the HP is a monster too so fuel burn always goes up with HP.
If I remember I'll ask Jim Mederer what BSFC he is getting with his
1200 HP turbo p-port 3 rotor. We don't care about idle in our Reno racer.
3000 RPM idle is 1052 prop RPM. Hardly enough to move the airplane
up a slight incline :)

If your goal is to go fast at high altitude, this might be okay too.
Consider the relatively poor
specific fuel consumption of aircraft gas turbines. Speaking of which,
I am begining to consider
rotaries as the closest thing you can get to a gas turbine, but not.
It's like a gas turbine crossed
with a 2 stroke piston and a 4 stroke piston.

Reno has long runways, and most of the pilots are already a little funny..
