I have driven a long tuned p-port manifold NSU RO80 in Europe and I
will
tell you it pulls fine from low RPM.

Which brings  us to the In Housing Butterfly which I adopted because it
was supposed to improve idle and throttle response.  It was originally
developed by Everett Hatch who knew what he was doing.  However,
having been around a few p ports in autos and reading Lynn's comments,
I suspect that it may not be necessary.  If I could place the throttle
plates in the plenum, it would save hundreds of dollars in precision
machining PER HOUSING.    Jerry

It was originally used by NSU. Stay with it Jerry. Find another machine

I have to admit to considering the same thing about the butterfly position.
I guess we won't know for sure until there are some controlled testing
