Looks good.
A lot fewer tubes so it should be quicker to weld with less
distortion.
Makes a 1/4 scale model and use a 1/2 plywood firewall to simulate
the torsional
stiffness you get from the full size fuselage. That is the secrete to
these types of mounts. They exploit the torsional stiffness available
in the fuselage.

I would have Jerry weld it up because he has a good strong jig. A
good strong jig is very
very important as I found that out the hard way when I had mine
built.

Going to the top of the firewall will give a bit better angle. Don't
forget
to order left and right hand ball joint threads so all you have to
do is give the tube
a few twist to adjust the angle.

OK, I removed those three tubes, so it looks just like your drawing
now.
The 3/8" rod ends should be large enough? Are there any bending issues
with the points I have marked with arrows? I will build a scale balsa
model.

No bending there but you might need a bit of mild steel sheet wrap to
reinforce the
joints.  Just because welding is frequently imperfect. Lots of load
there.

I would go with the 1/2 inch just to get a bit more rubber around the
ball.

Who is the builder? I think it is up to him. From a structural point of
view it matters little. I would keep it in close as the P51 side beams ought
to clear just about everything.
