volumetric" oil pump, through oil injectors, is mixed with air coming
from
the inlet manifold. When is this flow usefull, what is his fonction, can
i
suppress this in certain condition ?
This question is very important for me, i am dimensionning a new
lubrification system dedicate to our application on that function.

Frank, Thanks for joining us! I am not sure if the RX-8 pump gets it's instructions from the EMS or not. The earlier pumps are variants of some of the pumps made by mikuni for two stroke oil injection systems. They are good little pumps, very reliable. (since they are full of oil they should be!) The pumps use a drive from the engine and are also "throttled" that is they are connected to the inlet butterfly valve. The pump is in effect the crudest form of mechanical injection. The throttle quadrant varies the stroke of the pump. They still make tham for motorcycles and snowmobiles. I would recomend a seperate tank for 2-cycle oil rather than engine oil, but either one will work. Try Mikuni in your browser and "oil injector pumps". No need to re-invent the wheel.

They are needlessly complicated for an aircraft engine Bill. We are not concerned
with emissions over the wide range of HP a car engine must deal with. A simple direct drive
positive displacement gear pump is much easier to install. The Mistral front cover is entirely different than a stock Mazda 13B with gear driven water pump and alternator. It is not a question
of bolting on a stock Mikuni. The pump drive shaft design would be a relative night mare
compared to picking an existing shaft and encorporating the apex oil pump
on that shaft. Keep it simple.

Here are a couple of other data points Frank. Mixing one ounce per gallon
slowly makes oil in the crankcase under aircraft service. In other words not all
the oil is consumed. Racing Beat reports up to four ounces per gallon pre mixed
does not affect the ignition using MSD. Mixing the oil with the fuel before injection
seems to lube the trochoid better by more uniformly distributing the oil around
the entire trochoid (s?) surface as opposed to injecting it in one spot.
The RX8 engine uses two injectors per rotor out near the ends of the apex seals.
