What is the realistic horsepower of a 13B ? What about a 20B (

Will a Ross PSRU for a 13B fit a 20B ?

You need to monitor the OBD II data output in real time when dynoing an
RX8 engine. You might think the throttle is wide open but the engine
computer may decide
otherwise. The throttle is fly by wire. Here is a "full throttle" pedal to
the
metal acceleration run to 100 MPH in my RX8 monitoring the OBD II real
time
data output. Note the throttle is only 77% open. Why did the engine
computer decide
not to open the throttle fully? Perhaps it was the 104 degree F
temperature of
the air intake or perhaps it was because I had 87 octane fuel in there.

I hope to turbo-normalize the RX-8 going into my Long-Eze. Will Tracy's
EFI control unit limit full throttle as yours did here? Does Tracy's
sense air intake temperature and fuel octane? What is the 7500 RPM CFM
flow on the RX-8 anyway? I'm presuming your RX-8 was installed in a car,
or was this on a dyno?
Fred Nielson
No. Tracy's EFI computer does not control the throttle. So far all aircraft applications
of the rotary have been manual throttle control.
Tracy EFI does not sense octane. It sense intake manifold air temp, manifold pressure
and RPM and uses a table look up system to set the mixture. The table can be
modified in the air to fine tune the EFI system.
My RX8 engine was in my RX8 car.
Consider the 13B and the RX8 engine as equivalent to a 2.6 liter four cylinder four
cycle engine. This chart is for 80% volumetric efficiency so it must be adjusted
according to the type of ports you are using and the porting of the ports themselves.
For a tuned side port ported engine VE is about 100%. for a tuned P-port engine VE is about 120%.
