Shouldn't be any more of a fire risk, in my opinion. If there is a fire hot enough to start the magnesium on fire, it's time to get out of the airplane.(You believe in parachutes, don't you?) The
engine cases in air cooled volkswagens were made of magnesium alloy, and they were only a fire danger after things had been cooking for a while. In other words, the magnesium is a fuel, and will
burn, but if it's burning, the fire hasn't started there.
