As I understand it you make a RPM sensor that looks like this.
Am I correct in assuming the compressor wheel is made from
stainless steel?
Can you tell me how to buy one?

In case you don't hear from them for awhile, this sensor looks like one that I used years ago...(about 12 or so) when I needed to count and track the small parts on a production line (tablets and
capsules being fed from the presses and filling machines into a storage container). It was optical. With the rate of improvement in technology since then, and the advent of lasers, I can see where
this might be a laser counter, using reflection to count the blades with the transmitter and receiver in the same head, separated by fiber optics...not affected by the material. We were accurately
counting thousands a minute back then....no telling how fast they are now....
The problem I can see if this is so, is, as you've mentioned before for other applications, if the fibers are plastic and not glass.

I think you are right, According to my EFston source in Toronto fiber optics
go to 70 MHZ. We have 12 blades rotating at 2,500 RPS or 30,000 Hertz.
Ten times that is 300,000 Hertz. Well within the capabilities of fiber
optics. EFston assure me the cable is good to 125 C or about 275 F.
I should have a system today or tomorrow to test.
