This can be made with just a sheet metal shear and a brake.
The slide uses six small off the shelf ball bearings and shoulder
bolts from Stock Drive Products. Can be made from steel or aluminum.
The slide will work best when made from .065 steel as it is stiffer
than aluminum. The inner and outer sheet metal parts can then be made from
.065 T3 aluminum sheet.

My guess this is worth 10 to 15 HP more over using
butterflies with P-ports. 

If anybody is interested I will do a 2D dwg with dimensions.
