Paul,

How to keep the slide mechanism from scrapping on the end bolts? Puttin
four more bearings in there would do it but make the design cumbersome.
I don't think you would want any screws that could possibly back end up in
the engine.
IMHO the concept is good

A few suggestions. Think of heavy sliding patio doors. They ride on a
simple wheels on a rail.

I think we are going to make little teflon buttons or caps to go over
the heads of the shoulder screws holding the bearings on. That will locate
the slide up and down.

Make sure you put lock tight on the 6-32 flat head screws holding
the back panel of the slide throttle to the insert tubes.
When the throttle is wide open or closed the screws are blocked from
backing out. One could also rivet the back panel to the tubes but
you would have to drill out the rivets if you had to disassemble the engine.

Perhaps I will make the flanges a bit bigger so we can use 6-32 castle nuts.
MS14144 - (06). Flat head 6-32 screws with shank holes may not be available.
In that case you will need to drill the shanks .036 for 1/32 cotter pins or use
all metal lock nuts MS21048C (06) or something similar.
