 > Hello;

Has anyone here done rotor clearancing for an aircraft application?
I assume this is typically done with a grinding/polishing machine,
has
 anyone done using another method?

 Also
Paul, are you using the stock oil pump and pressure regulator in
your
 PPort?

 Cheers
 Cary

Yes on the rotor clearancing but I think it is unnecessary. We never
run over
7500 RPM

I don't know yet. I left that decision up to John at Mazdatrix. Perry
Mick
has been flying one of his engines for a couple of years now.
BTW engine parts are at the balancing shop as we speak. If we are lucky
we will have it running before Sun & Fun.

Yes I do rotor clearanceing, I do it on a lathe, I cut .015" off
at the tip and taper it off to zero where the bluing is.
Rob Golden at Pineapple racing told me to do this and considered it
absolutely necessary.

Cary,
Ken is absolutely right to do this as he runs NOS ( hight power) which may
bend the e-shaft a little under such high loads.
This bending action cocks the rotors a little and they bind on the apexes.

The RX 8 is a TAD wider and needs some skimming also and this will be done
on the lathe.
I suppose it doesn't hurt to check everything, the tolerances are in the
Workshop Manual - I finally purchased one !

Most don't run NOS and 300 HP.
