You got me there. Did you use the exact size screw driver blade?
Very important with a brass plug. If it were me I would leave them
alone. Might be important for racing where you are running 11,000 RPM
but for 7500 RPM aircraft use I suspect not.

An impact screwdriver does it. Even the cheap $7.00 job works fine. The
screws are Locktited (or similar) and the old shafts had a spot beside one end of
the slot punched so a bit of the shaft was upset next to the slot.

No modification is required. The spring loaded balls maintain good oil
pressure at idle, where additional rotor cooling is not required. When the revs get
high enough, the balls lift off the seats and oil is sprayed into the rotors.
Just check for broken springs and corrosion. Finish cleaning the crank and
reinstall the system with Locktite.

Seemed pretty scary to remove the springs and balls
as Racing Beat recommended. BTW You don't want to cool the rotors more anyway.
That removes too much heat to the cooling system. You want to run the rotors
as hot as possible to improve the BSFC. Run 500 F teflon encapsulated oil
O-rings. Cool the oil well to keep the rotor bearings within operating range.
