I've been lurking for a very short period and it's time to come out of
the
closet.

My name is Patrick Panzera and I'm the editor of CONTACT! Magazine.
For those who've never heard of CONTACT! before, the magazine was
started 15
years ago as a non-profit, educational enterprise, in order to fill a
void in
experimental aviation publications (we have no ads in our magazine or
website).
The major players were (and still are) getting away from reporting on
TRUE
experimental aviation in favor of "affordable" $40K kits with $20K paint
jobs. I
seems that they are more interested in selling ad space to the big
players, so
they limit their articles to their products and leave those of us out
here in
the trenches, actually making things with our hands and innovating, out
in the
cold.

As the editor I feel the obligation to seek out what is going on in the
trenches
and do my best to report on it, and I have found that internet groups
are the
best way for me to do this. I recently had a lot of requests for more
Rotary
information, so I went out to find it. That brought me here.

I've only been on this list for a week or two and I must say my socks
are
totally blown off! At any given time I'm subscribed to no less than 30
such
groups, and you guys are the most technically orientated bunch of
individuals
I've come across in years!

That being said, I would like to openly invite any and all of you all to
share
your ideas with thousands of other like-minded enthusiasts, and
contribute
articles to CONTACT! Magazine for publication.

The recent stuff on the VG's and manometer (although it's still not
totally
played out) is EXACTLY the type of stuff ANY experimenter should be able
to find
in their favorite publication, but is not being printed since there's no
ad
space to be sold as a result of it. But this info needs to be out there!
At a
minimum, like-minded people will find it thoroughly fascinating to read
about,
even if they can't apply it directly to their project, and at a maximum,
people
can chase their cooling problems a little more effectively.

And the work I see in general on the Rotary you guys are doing is
outstanding!
I'd love to publish as many stories as possible on the Rotary, as I feel
that
it's being generally overlooked as a viable auto conversion.

Thanks!

Pat

Pat, great to have you on the list.  I guess you are taking over for
Mick?  Looks like you are doing a great job, and sorry I missed the
alternate engine round up in Laughlin.  I could probably even talk the
wife into going there.

I started my search for an alternate engine with a read of "Alternate
Engines" and came across Tracy's and Ed's articles.  That's what
convinced me to use a rotary.

I am flying an RV-6 with a rotary +/- turbocharger.  When I get all
the kinks worked out of the turbo system I plan on writing an article
for contact.  That will be in about a year.
