Are you sure this is doable? Isn't the Rotax 503 something below half the
weight of a 6.5B (a single rotor based on a mzda). I would have thought you
would need to go for a Diamond rotary to be in the right weight category?

Yes, the weight is an issue, but mainly because the gyro is designed to meet
FAR part 103.  We don't (as you know) have these weight limitations in NZ,
and the airframe is quite capable of handling the extra weight.

BTW, the weather here is bloody terrible at the moment -- you're not missing
much.
