Subject: MythBusters and Moller SkyCar and Smartplugs?

Watched that Discovery Channel MythBusters show last night.  They did
have the SkyCar on, and it didn't look to me like they were praising it.
From my point of view, it looks like the whole show was on hoaxes and
lame attempts at engineering.

They only had two topics, "Pyramid Power", which Adam said that he never
wants to see anything idiotic like that on his show again (they tested
all these ideas about pyramids preserving objects like razor blades,
fruit, etc...none worked), and personal flying vehicles.

They did have the Hiller flying platform on, but that was the only one
that worked. Of course, where is it now? <G>

They also showed those old 1930s movie clips that we've all seen of the
guys on bikes, and roller skates, jet packs on ice skates, and flapping
arm powered wings.  They also tried building one of their own, but
couldn't get it off the ground, either.

After they talked to Paul Moller, and after he showed them his tethered
flight with the SkyCar, Paul mentioned his usual spiel, that in 25
years, 90% of the population will have one of these!

Jamie and Adam then got into the SkyCar and closed the canopy...out of
Moller's hearing, Adam said something to the effect that "it sounds like
a hoax to me". He actually used the word "hoax"  in reference to the
skycar!

Their conclusion at the end of the show was that personal flying
vehicles will never pan out...the main reason is that if any one of the
systems fails, there is no back up or safety and the unit and the
passenger plunge to the ground.

Looks like the first media presentation of the SkyCar that ignores
Moller's hype and tells it like it is!

Moller is now talking about recovery parachutes like the Sirius.
Does not mean he is serous :)

Let them have their fun.  Perhaps some day they will make it happen.

Was the Wright Bros. a Myth?  It flew 12 seconds.  The Moller claims 10
seconds hover now.

Its a stock scam that has been going on for years. There is no
question it will fly. Nothing wrong with the physics of it.
They just don't want to spend the money neccessary to make
it happen. Probably diverting the funds for other purposes.
About a year ago we were going to see a Moller/Freedom Motors
Wankel powered  surfboard.  Where is it?

Has anyone seen or purchased a working Smartplug?  www.smartplug.com
If it is truth or fiction, I know someone on this newsletter has the facts.

Thanks

Smart plugs are diesel starting  glow plugs. Just like your model
airplane engine. You need to spike the fuel with nitromethane  to get
them to work. Just like Glo fuel for your model airplane engine.
Gets kind of expensive :)
