These are the last pictures I will be able to take
as the engine is going back to Marc for further
tuning with a prop load and in the air.
Marc I will update the slide throttle to a sealed version
and send you the parts.
Jerry, we tried the muffler and it was rather loud at 123 db but
I was standing right next to the engine in a steel building.
Half a dozen rotary experienced people were standing around and
they all said it definitely mellowed the sound of a typical rotary with
an open exhaust. We did not make any power runs so I cannot say
if it increased the HP or decreased it.

OK, Loud but mellow. What was the rpm and load for the 123 db
measurement? If that was idle, I may have a problem. :-)

About 6000 RPM and 100 HP my guess. I was watching the db meter :)
Similar measurements on similar mufflers have been 104 db at 30 feet
away with prop noise. Tracy and Dave Atkins ran similar mufflers for quite
a few years. Perhaps with a slightly smaller down pipe.
I have the impression the rectangular down pipe is mostly
responsible for the mellow sound as it sounds different than
Tracy's or Dave's. Just a subjective impression.
