As it turns out, I am going to be using my turbo only for mild boost and
normalization.
Who thinks this is a bad idea?

While I know nothing about these turbo and/or turbo normalizing rotary
engines in aircraft, I have put a goodly number of hours on several air
cooled engines, one of which, an IO-360 was Rajay turbo normalized when I
acquired it. I had previously, and have since, flown plain jane turbocharged
IO-360s and other aircraft engines, both turbo normalized and plain jane
turbo charged. For my two cents worth, the turbo normalizing is almost
always the best way to go. JMHO

For most aircraft engines it certainly is. IO-360 aircraft engines are right
at their structural limit. If you boost them above 29" Hg you risk failure.
On the other hand some of the old radials were designed to run a 45" Hg.
