Paul, see attached pic, I've created the .375" spacer. I'm getting
pretty good at making these by hand. With such low production numbers
I may just do that if this design works out. I'll ship this off to
you today if thats ok. T.W.
Looks good Tom. I need it for Marks manifold. I'll have the 3/8 Teflon
tommorrow morning. The buttons should be in today anytime now. If you
need
one or two let me know. I am getting ten.
Are you still using the plasma cutter?
I was thinking a water jet might be better for this thick material.

Water jet has one drawback, the cutting stream will flare in thicker
material and leave the cut edge not even close to square and it also has
the annoying habit of leaving 'striations' (sp) on that surface.. the
only way to avoid it with aluminum is to cut very very slowly.. which of
course ups the costs.. Laser is a good way to go or a CnC table is even
better.
Just what I've found over the years or making flanges ...

Thanks Ian. I'll look into laser cutting. I have an old Kasuga NC mill in good shape
but I need to upgrade the computer. A friend is working on adapting public domain
NC mill software running under Linux.
Back in the early days of the slide throttle we punched all the sheet metal parts. We
have slowly evolved to thicker material making the NC punch no longer an option.
Sometimes I think we have shot ourselves in the foot :) To be fair we needed
better sealing around the edges of the slide to prevent raw fuel from
dripping on the exhaust manifold.
