My son just called me to ask if I saw Top Gear on the Discovery Channel
last night.
I had not, as I turned my new plasma TV (shameless bragging <G>) off
having already seen the MythBusters episode just before that.
Apparently, they the Top Gear guy test drove a bunch of Lamborghinis and
other similar cars, but in the bunch, he also drove an RX-8.
His comment after driving it was that it was the single best car that he
had ever driven! Bar none!
It's being repeated tonight (Sept. 15th) at 1 am...have to copy it!
Harley Dixon
Hi Harley,
Were you able to capture that video? We checked on the West Coast
and we could not find it.
If so could you put it on a web site someplace so we can download it?
Paul Lamar
Sorry, guys...
I was all set up to copy it, but as you already found out, when 1 AM
rolled around, it wasn't on!
It was only then that I realized 1Am on the 15th does NOT follow 9 PM on
the 15th! <G>
Haven't stayed up much past 11 pm since I left the working world 11
years ago...I forgot the calendar rolls over to the next day at midnight!
I'll keep my eyes open for a repeat. But a quick check on the schedule
on Discovery online indicates that it's not on in the near future. My
intentions were to put that segment on my web site...if I ever got it.
BTW...while we're talking about the RX-8...
2 years later, people are still stopping me and asking questions about
it! Had a younger couple (of course, young to me is anyone under 50
<G>) look it over very closely while I was at Lowes last week...before
they left, the girl was trying to talk her husband into getting one!
And yesterday, on my way out of Wendy's with a Big Bacon Classic meal in
hand, a guy on a Harley (not me...the bike) stopped by and spent a half
hour familiarizing himself with it.
I still get looks, smiles and thumbs up at stop lights from Miata and
other Mazda owners...
Also, those BF Goodrich G-Force tires that I replaced the OE
Bridgestones with have just passed the mileage I had on the Bridgestones
when I replaced them, and still have more than 50% tread. Still are
far quieter and better traction than the Bridgestones ever had. And
we've certainly had enough rain around here recently to test the
traction! Bottom line, in my opinion, they are better in every respect,
and $60 cheaper...each!
Taking the RX-8 into the car doctor (read that "dealer") today for the
gas line and ball joint recalls....
Harley Dixon
How many miles do you have on your RX8 Harley? I got 20K on mine.
My ball joints were OK. Thanks for the tip on the tires. I also
need something quieter.
